Season August

Thought to originate from Sligo in Ireland, of unknown parentage.
Introduced in England around 1820 by Mr John Darby of Addiscombe, and Mr Robertson of Kilkenny.
The fruits are medium in size, round and slightly flat in shape. The skin is yellow with an earthy orange flush over painted with broken red stripes, and lightly speckled.
The flesh is a creamy ''apple white'', sweet and juicy and highly aromatic.
