American Mother apple

Mainly known as Mother. Dates back to 1844, where it was raised in Boston, Massachusetts, of unknown parentage. The long, conical fruits are slightly ribbed, and can often be a little lopsided. It has a green/yellow background, which has patchy splashes of red on top, with delicate red stripes over that. The side which faces the sun tends to become dark red when ripe.
A bite inside the rather tough skin reveals a juicy, dark cream flesh, tender but somewhat uneven in texture. A sweet aromatic apple, described by some as ''pear drop'' flavoured, and by others as mildly vanilla like.
