Adams Pearmain apple
£1.60 per kilo
Ready E / M October SEASON Nov - March
Initally known as Hanging Pearmain in either Herefords or Norfolk (some confusion exists over its' exact origin, and parentage remains unknown), this apple was introduced in 1826 by Mr Adams.
It was extremely popular with the Victorians and Edwardians, who particularly enjoyed its' wonderful nutty flavour. A fine looking apple with a long conical shape (pearmain means pear shaped).
A green base washed with red, and speckled over with tiny spots, it is said by some to bear a visual resemblance to a strawberry. This apple is as wonderful now as it was when our ancestors enjoyed it.
